    Stag tuning

    Hello,
I have just completed my restoration of my 1973 stag with original engine.
The carbs were overhauled by the gauge shop and set to run.
On starting the engine it idles at about 100 rpm.
Don't have any experience with stromberg carbs would like to know if any one in the north east as I live in the Durham area can recommend any one who can tune the engine.
I am a member of the Northumbria club and looking forward to driving the car.

Surprised it keeps going at 100 rpm do you mean 1000?

The original Triumph ROM has a surprisingly clear, straightforward, concise and effective description of how to set up and tune the carbs.

If I can understand it it must be pretty simple - worth a try. If you can restore your car I'm sure you can follow those instructions.

      Cheers

        Hi,
No I mean 100rpm , you can with a little throttle take it up to 1000.
May be the idle is to low ?

I have a copy of the rom containing the manual and I also have the Haynes and the original manual.
I read a link that was very comprehensive , obviously wrote by some one that had a good deal of experience .
For quickness I need the car M.O.T and ready for beamish next weekend.
I'm willing to learn but in the short time I could make things worse as there could be other reasons why it is not idling correctly and willing to get some help here if possible.

Um, yes. Idle should be in the 650 -800 range (though I am sure someone will have a more correct view. At 100 I'm surprised you don't stall.

I think this is more of a rev counter problem, there is no way a stag engine (or any car engine) will idle as low as 100rpm.
