Seat foam

I've seem that most of the seat foams seem to be to big and hard for the covers. Does anyone know if all the suppliers us the same ones or would Aldridge say, make their own foams and would hopefully fit their covers like a glove. Anyone had theirs done . . . . ?

I assume you're referring to the backrest foams, that crumble ?

I've used Southern Trimming (I think that's their name)who advertise in the mag.

It seems to be a one man business (Jim van Gent) but he makes his own foams from the same foam as the original and I've been very impressed with them. Ok, maybe they'll crumble in 30 years, but I don't think I'll be around to worry about it

Some suppliers sell a one piece foam, whereas others sell them in parts.

i have the one piece foams they where a tad hard to begin with but now they are so comfy.

Thanks . I have heard the Jim is as hard to get hold of as most of the 1 man (or 2) band companies in this game. Classical dash still not called back....given up for the moment . . . .
I have the covers from Aldridge and am using Thomset in Cambridge for trimming. The problem seems to be that they are a tad big and stretch the covers. Haven't had any reports about the ones in 3 parts.

I had mine done 2 months ago by Jim van Gent. Excellent service and good value. My contact with him was through Faversham Classics while the car was being serviced so no problems with getting hold of him. I went to see him 4 or 5 years ago for some beige (biscuit?) material to make a tonneau cover and found him very accommodating.
