    Carb needle valve

    Good evening all,

I recently brought a carb service kit from James Paddock and the needle valves sent were different from the ones that I've removed from my carbs.

I've attached some photos of the differences and was wondering if anyone knew whether this is going to pose an issue or if these types of changes are insignificant.

My carbs are the original US style emission system Zenith Stromberg ones, 175 CD-2.

Any opinions or advice is appreciated.

They're fine - stick them in and get tuning...

I've just fitted a pair of them.
Cured my 'petrol everywhere' problem and the car runs just fine.

      Cheers , Mark.

Ditto mine, although the float chamber gasket was also pretty dodgy looking. Worth replacing at same time if you are doing the needle valves perhaps.

I bought a carb repair kit from Paddocks and one of the new valves was sticky. They replaced it without a quibble but the replacement looked to be a better quality and wasn't part of a kit. So there's many out there, probably all serviceable but make sure they don't stick.

Yes uzbek, the car's been unstarted in a garage for about 20 years, just finished rebuilding the complete engine including taking the heads off (that was NOT a fun job!) and adjusting shim clearances. I'm replacing all seals and overhauling the carbs... a new gasket for the float chamber is definitely being done though the old ones weren't that bad. Thanks for the good advice!
