About 3 weeks ago I took delivery of my Royal Blue Mk 1. Commission LD334, built October 1970. She arrived on 22nd May and I've now done 500miles, mostly roof down, despite being North of the Border.. Thouroughly delighted with the car and looking forward to years of fun. IMG_4089.jpg
Thanks, the registration is an interesting point, the first selling dealer was McHargs in Glasgow but she got the RP Northhamptonshire registration. Would like to know if she was a pre Reg or similar.
Don't know if it went on back then but nowadays the dealership I work for has stock in their yard that still belongs to the manufacturer, it is not unknown for them to take it back to give to another dealership if there is a demand for it. Other option is a show car or demonstrator?

Mine was also built Oct 1970 (LD 364) but not registered until 31/1/71. Probably built as the same batch. I guess mine sat at the dealership for a while waiting for a sale.

Quite likely, the date of despatch to the dealer is given as 12th Feb (says 1970 on the heritage cert, but that can't be right). The first selling dealer was the West Coast and Glasgow distributor, reputedly the third largest Triumph distributor in the UK. It's likely, as Tractorjames suggests that the cars sat, and were perhaps registered, before moving to the distribution point.
The Royal Blue is the original colour, the engine has been changed I think as I can't find the number between No's 6 & 8 plugs.
