Age and colour

Hi All

Having a bit of a nightmare with my car at the moment, typical teething issues 12 months on from purchase. Carbs, fuel tank, rear wheel cylinder, and gearbox. However, the tank caused a bit of a paint peel when it leaked. The car was partly restored including a paint job so I'm trying to find a colour match.

I've gone to check the vin plate but it's missing. I do have the have the LD number which is 6239 LD. My v5 says 1971.

How do I find out the production details and the colour so I can match it. I believe it saffron yellow.

whatever the colour code or the name of the colour the probability it wont be exactly the same colour is very high. Unless you are going to do a full respray you need to take the car or a part of the painted car to a colour match shop. They can match the paint colour and type exactly but off the shelf it will be impossible to get a true match

Totally agree - mine is BRG but I have some samples of the original colour. They look identical.......until you put them side to side with the car

A local bodyshop made a perfect job of matching up the paint.

Ps Even if your car has never been resprayed, the paint is likely to have suffered from UV and so, if you bought paint that perfectly matched the original, it probably wouldn't match your paintwork now.
