Hazard Flashers

Car failed Mot on flash rate of the Hazards. I seem to recall a recent post with same Mot fail recently.(Perhaps mot man reads this forum)

Probably the relay unit i reckon, part GFU425, but the replacement illustrated is a 2 wire unit, existing is a 3 wire unit. Any ideas?

I've found that age of the wiring, plugs, connectors etc. can take it's toll on the flash rate due to increasing resistance. You could give all connections a clean up I guess, but the main reason for mentioning this is that even if you line up a few flasher units of identical type, you may see different flash rates when you connect them up.

A modern electronic unit would probably cope better, but I'm only guessing they are available, just some food for thought.

Thanks for all the help on this Forum, always good for after hours advice!

Upon further investigation mine as existing is a 2 pin type and appears to be original and is a bit manky so hopefully replacing it will do the trick. Ordered from Robsport, they were very helpful too.

Mot retest next Monday!

If they still flash slowly, get him to rev the engine a little. Always works!
