Hi I'm Lewy

I'm new to the Forum and Stag owners club - I'm currently in the process of restoring my Stag, (still in the stripping down and boxing things up stage) then sorting out the body work and getting everything running smoothly again.

Not had the chance to drive it yet apart from in and out of the workshop. But can't wait to get the roof down and take it for a spin!

I bought it as a project and because I have always loved stags - I only passed my driving test in January and the Stag will be my second car - I'm currently driving around in a Fiat Punto lol but older cars are more my thing.

Couldn't find a newbie section anywhere so thought I'd say hello here.

One question is there a South Yorkshire Section of the Stag Owners Club? Seems to miss the whole area out on the map. :shock:

Hi Lewy, welcome t'club (sorry) , you'll find a wealth of knowledge on the forum and hopefully some laughs too! There doesn't seem to be a south yorks area, but notts/derby, is this too far?? There is west yorks, wakefield?

I wish! the Girlfriend hates the Stag and hasn't even seen it in the flesh yet - only seen the photos. Says I'm going through a mid life crisis, at 27 lol

Not going to change my mind about it though - the Stag is there to stay!

Nottingham isn't too far - But was just wondering why there wasn't a South Yorkshire area and if there was anything I could do to help set one up - I'm a designer by trade so getting a website and everything set up is no problem if someone in the south Yorkshire area want to help out?

27!! I think that puts you as the youngest here!! Can you walk yet, are you potty trained?? (just joking) I wouldn't know about setting one up, i'm not sure how many owners are south yorks.

Didn't think 27 was that young :? Although all my friends say i'm stupid for buying an old car and not driving about in escourts or imprezas like them... I've never liked them... and never will.

The girlfriends great, she just don't like the stag - takes up too much of my time at the moment lol

Think she'll change her mind when it's restored and we're driving along with the top down

Hi Lewey,

Welcome to the Forum!

I think from previous posts the youngest members on the Forum are mid 30's - myself included, so you may well be the youngest here!

Looking at your Avatar, is it the trick of the light, or has your Stag got a fancy paint job? It looks good in the small pic!

Hi Lewy.

Welcome to the nuthouse! You will get plenty of good advise and there are some real pi**takers on this site, or so I am told.

Glad to see someone is younger than Stustag.

What colour will yours be, as the photo looks yellow with red edges? Please don't say Topaz, or Stustag will be weeing himself with glee.

No the Stag at the moment is pimento red - but I've been think of what colour to respray - the one in the avatar is photoshopped....



it's been resprayed before and badly (used to be light blue... Tahiti blue isn't it?) don't know if I should paint it in the original blue or not.

Hi Lewy.

It would probably been French Blue like mine. Code 126 on the commission plate in passenger door shut. Tahiti Blue (146) was from 1977 model year. Looks like you have a Rover engine?

OK. It was the bonnet bulge that fooled me, normally only needed on a Rover conversion. Could it have had a Rover engine in the past?

To be honest It could have had anything done to it in the past. It was rescued from the breakers yard.

The bulge on the bonnet is for the twin carbs - they're bigger than any other stag I've seen - have a look:
