while at the surrey N&N last night, we got talking about what V8 engine would fit into the Stag. A ford 302 was mentioned as it was thought thephysical size and weight was about the same as the TV8 - My question is, has this transplant ever been carried outwith any great success?.

I like the idea of the small block Ford V8 (Windsor 302, 289 etc)because it is in period with the Stag. It would look great under the bonnet with a nice big Holley or Edelbrock carb and air cleaner. I just cant get interested in any classic car conversions using modern engines. Even worse, I have heard people mention diesel engines, yuk!
The Windsor engine has plenty of torque at low revs which I thinkwould suit the heavy Stag well, and would keep the classic feel. Even the 260 engine Sunbeam Tiger has 245 ft lb or torque (more in Mk1 Cobra form).

I'm very sorry to have to say that the club's interpretation of the Data Protection Act (Some strange Freudian slip of my typing made that Data Prevention Act!) does not allow me to pass his name and/or address out. However, perhaps he could announce himself onto the forum when the game would be on!
Seriously, work was going on a couple of years ago and I have a dozen or so pictures. Maybe it's finished now.

I've always thought the Lotus 3.5lt V8 would be a nice alternative, being british and all.

Although it did have its own problems unfortunately.
