gearbox/clutch problem

I have a Stag with 2.5 engine & Stag manual gearbox. I have been using this for about 2 years with no problems, but a few days ago I drove about 3 miles, left car for about 1 hour, then drove car about 1/2 mile stopped but gear lever was stuck in 1st gear, but only took a couple of seconds to free. A few days later I drove about 3 miles parked up for 20 mins, came back drove 20 yards stopped put car in neutral for couple of seconds, tried to engage 1st gear but would not go in, nor would it go in any other gear, the clutch pedal seemed to go all the way down to the floor with no resistance, so pushed car backwards to side of road, tried again all gears worked ok. Clutch fluid level ok. Car drives up & down drive ok, but would like to sort out problem without going onto main road & risk loosing gears and having to be trailered home, any help would be appreciated. Clive.

when it fails, switch off the engine and try again. could be selector rods or clutch?!?

yes will do that when it happens again, also check selector rods as well. Thant's.

obviously if you have a problem, engine off and the problem goes away it is more likely to be clutch related. if problem stays then the likelyhood of an issue inside the box itself increases.
