    Accuspark electronic ignition

    Hi Fellow members
I'm looking for help from any member who has fitted the above ignition system to a stag 2 point dizzy.

I fitted the above system to our mk2 auto stag. I timed the engine with the number 2 cylinder at TDC. The dizzy is as far anti clockwise as possible on the two adjusting slots. The engine runs and shows ignition at approximately 14 degrees BTDC on a strobe. Should be 12 degrees BTDC, the additional 2 degrees could be attributed to the mechanical advance working. The vacuum advance is not connnected.

The module is fitted secured by the screw which lines up with the vacuum operating arm. It doesn't appear feasible to fit the module at 180 degrees opposite the present fitted location.

ACCUSPARKS fitting instruction are timing the engine via the number 1 cylinder. I'm not so sure this would work.

Is there anything I can do within the dizzy to give me more adjustment anti clockwise, or do I just have to live with it

Thre would be no problem with a dizzy fitted with a clamp ring securing fitting. The stag securing ring is as you all know part of the body casting.

Best regards to all fellow members. I look forward to your advice.

I had this problem with the identical powerspark model. I pulled dizzy and replaced it one tooth further round. Runs brill.

      Hi Scraggs
Thank you for your advice. Just one question. did you turn it further round clock or anti clockwise. My thoughts are clockwise but I need confirmation.

We lived in Nottingham from 1972--1977 and enjoyed every minute. We still have friends there who we keep in touch with. We've lived in Kent since 1977. My North East employer kept moving me about.

      I await your reply

      Kindest regards, Georgestag1

Just think of it like this: if the bolts are up to the end of the slots say to the left" anticlockwise" you have to move the shaft anticlockwise one tooth. This will put the bolts roughly in the middle of the slots and the rotor arm back to where it was in relation to the dizzy.
