Stagatha needs a new windscreen

Testing Stagatha tonight after new radiator, thermostat, cam cover gaskets etc., etc., and finally thought I had won - back on the road after about 2 months.

Then Stagatha, or more relevant a car travelling in the opposite direction, has the last word: - throws a stone up and hits the screen with an almighty bang. End result, she now needs a new windscreen and I may as well replace the seal as it is badly cracked.

having seen all the posts about seals, screens, screen trim and fitters of the same, anyone got any good recommendations in the Midlands?

Isn't it covered under your insurance policy? So who is going to fit it and where they get it from is their problem.

Could you fit it yourself?

Or buy it and ask a local company to fit it?

Yes it is covered on the insurance, £75 excess for "approved" supplier, £125 for others, so it may be as cheap to get a replacement screen, rubber and try fitting it myself. However in the last few weeks Stagatha has kept having the last word so I prefer to get someone else to do it - if they know what they're doing!

Will contact Insurers Monday and see who their approved suppliers are.

I can highly recommend a windscreen fitter in Sealands Chester about half a mile from Paddocks.

Not too far for you to drive.

I need a screen too but can't find a fitter. Have so far made 2 enquiries but no responses.

dont know if this ebay seller is any good but he gets good feedback so it might be worth a call....the ad is for Yorkshire and parts of Lancashire but "call" for other areas. If you guys are struggling it might be a worthwhile bet..(I dont know the guy and have never called them. I bought my own windscreen second hand and fitted it myself..)

Been to Bromyard Gala all day, so now I have a crack about 3 inches long, spearing across and up the screen. However, met another SOC member at the show who has recently had a screen fitted, via his insurer, through someone in Brierley Hill and he was well pleased.

Will make enquiries through my insurers tomorrow and post if I have any success...... Thanks all for your thoughts & responses. My worry is it will need a new rubber and there are so many horror stories about the bright trim not fitting, crap seals etc. - who is the best or only good supplier?

Been to Bromyard Gala all day, so now I have a crack about 3 inches long, spearing across and up the screen. However, met another SOC member at the show who has recently had a screen fitted, via his insurer, through someone in Brierley Hill and he was well pleased.

we bought a new windscreen rubber from wards,the screen fitted no problem

the screen was fitted first,then i fitted the trim,if i had fitted the screen, i would have fitted the screen to the rubber, then fit the trim, then fit the whole unit as one

i used washing line,inside the rubber flap, to open up the rubber flap,then the trim fits inside ,as you pull the washing line out the trim stays in place

Will it not repair as it doesn't look as though from the photos that the crack has run?
