repairing trip meter on late speedo.

my trip meter is on the blink, it's the later type with push button reset. I tried earlier in the week to repair it but failed as I wasn't sure how to take the needle/hand off without breaking it! if I can get past that then I may be able to do something with it, any ideas? I hat things not working and like a trip meter to work as it should

I have just recalibrated a speedometer by resetting the spring. I have not worked on the odometer though. Removing the needle just involves carefully levering it off. I place plate of steel against the dial face, then use a screwdriver to lever the needle off.

I wasn't sure how the needle came off so shy'd away from tugging on it! the trip section is on a lever kinda thing, when you push the button in it tilts over and resets to zero. it's on a black plastic thing and one side has broken off, I could repair this I think but need to remove the face for access...

hi mark I found the spare speedo but it doesnt have the trip reset on it that goes to the back of speedo.but its here if you need it mate cheers jeff

I think yours is the type remote reset cable? mine is the type with reset button on actual dial..
