    Mystery Nut Any Idea's

Hi Guys , been working on the yellow one, fitting a replacement distributor and setting the other up as a spare for the boot with a spare lumenition ignition system as well.
I found a nut and wonder where you think it has come from? and then I will tell you where I found it while doing the above jobs.

Please have a look at see if you can help me identify it.

    Thanks very Guys.

Looks like it might have been welded to something at one time?

Is it 1/4 unf by any chance?

It's smaller than that, must be some sort of BA thread, across flats 6.27mm, and it's 2.10mm thick.

P1050855.jpghope this will give a scale.

Right guy's, will put you out of your misery of where I found it, and also have had a suggestion of what it is, A points nut which, there has been no points fitted to the car since May 1992 and 97,841 miles now 116,000, and when I did both head gaskets etc the dizzy was left in and the top of the block cleaned and painted.
So this little nut has been sitting where I found it for 20,000miles and 22 years.

will not let me add a picture will try again later,

found the nut in the other thread on the little ledge on the right by the drive gear for the distributor on the jack shaft that as sat there for 20,000 miles, a trip to France and back and 22 years. how lucky it that. if the management can add this to my 1st thread that would be great.
