    Original Welding?

    Hello all,
Just wondering if this is correct? Driver's side rear suspension turret under back seat. Cleaned out rusty streaks around sealing mastic. Large gaps between metal panels with welds 2.5 inches apart. Is this Triumph's usual standard or poor fit and covered up with sealant at the factory. Car's original so no bodger owner has been at it. Cheers Johny

thats not original, the seat pan has a lip thats bent over and follows the shape of the inner wheel arch and is spot welded to the arch

Agreed, the original welds and panel fit from the factory were pretty good although not perfect

Thanks Guys. It's a '77 model. I think looking at the mastic now, it's like Drew's. The gap's half a centimetre or so in places. I think I'll just derust and reseal. Maybe it changed in production? Johny
