New member with new Stag introduction

    Hi,
Just thought I would introduce myself and new Stag. Since owning a Stag back in the early 80's, we have always wanted another one when the time was right. So here it is. Just had new front inserts, springs and track control arms fitted. Front of car now sits a touch high. Hoping it will settle but if not will fit the old springs back on. Photos show car before springs were changed. DSC04023.jpgDSC04029.jpgDSC04011.jpgDSC04020.jpgDSC04045.jpg

She's a beauty, what colour is it exactly, looks too red for Pimento?

Welcome to the Forum - the number plate on your new acquisition is very appropriate (SOC = Stag Owners Club), looks a very nice car.

I don't know - heathens! Pimento IS red (not orange)

The colour is Volvo red code 241. We love it. It was completely rebuilt by Moorland Classic cars in 1999.
Just got a few more things to sort on it. Namely to set up the electric water pump and fan to continue to run after the engine is turned off. The electronic switch in the top hose isn't working so needs replacing. When it's replaced, the fan and water pump should continue to run with engine off until the coolant reaches a set point to try and avoid heat soak. I'm also going to fit a new thermostat when I do a full engine and rad flush. This is so that I have a point of reference as I start to use the car.
On another note, I notice that the fuel filter has an arrow embossed on it. The arrow points against the flow of fuel to the carbs. Could the filter be connected the wrong way round?

I should have said. The car was originally a 1977 'R' registered but a previous owner had the 'SOC' Stag Owners Club personalised plate put on.

                    Exactly the same as myself

Welcome (again) to Stag ownership and to the Forum. Looking good with the perfect colour interior

There has been a lot of time and money invested in your car by the look of it.

                      Welcome to our mad world

Where is the pump fitted? This is a conversion I have thought of doing. In fact I have a pump already and there is a Kenlowe fan (don't know if it works though - it is disconnected).

Looks good, Mark, and some interesting modifications to compare to originals.

I'll go first.... , OK, second.... as "Isis" got there first.. .

How does it run, and sound, with the flat pan air filters rather than the original set-up? Do the carbs' breath ok without the, slightly, cool (er) ram-air original?

I'd thought of going this route myself as it gives much better (easier) access to everything and looks less cluttered.
