Hi Melbourne
If you haven't already sussed out your lead problem this may help you. I assume the distributor hasn't been disturbed.
Turn the engine to TDC on number 2 cylinder the rotor arm should now be pointing to the far coil securing bolt. Offer the distributor cap to the distributor and note the postion of the number 2 connection on the cap. The sequence then from number 2 working anti clockwise is 7-8-4-5-6-3-1.
It's a shame you didn't replace the leads one at a time. I guess a wifey did the side tracking, happens to me regular.
I hope the above will help you.

Hi Ian,
You are a clever fella, should do that my self sometime. It would save a big hassel.Hope you'r not too cold up North. It's been cold and a southerly today here.Got a WOF on Monday but have a couple of things to check.Slight play in tierod ends, and the top steering is slightly sloppy.Bloody hell they must think the steering shaft is attached to the old ball and joint type steering box. However it passed so will attend to these sometime. Are you intending to go to the Marlborough Stag do next year.We are!!!
Cheers,
Anthony(Tony)

Hello Tony, I try to do things that will make servicing and fault finding easier. I also had an advisory with my recent warrant, The front draglink bushes. I will also strengthen the arms when I have them off. We have decided not to go to Marlborough as I would like another trip to GB to visit family and attend another Stag National Weekend. We have had some -1 frosts and lovely fine days but the wind can be very cold and ok course the famous damp Waikato fogs.
Cheers,
Ian
