After Head gasket failure on the M25 last year my engine is now together again and running well, apart from this annoying white smoke/vapour emitted when up to temperature.
There is no overheating no apparent water loss, leaks in the vee or from anywhere and the engine is timed and carbs are balanced.
My question or questions to the panel are. is it possible for water to have gathered within the exhaust system after the HGF and for that water to be expelled in the form of steam once it heats up? I have been told to give the car a good long run but am a little reluctant to do so whilst in this condition.
It would seem to be water vapour mixed with petrol fumes leaving some black sooty deposit around the inside of the pipes. The car seems to be running rich as well so maybe a combination of the two? pretty sure it is not oil based smoke.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
