hi everyone recently got my stag on the road after a 4 year rebuild, its a 76 in topaz.as I thought the old washer bottle looked tired I bought a new replacement from a well known supplier, fitted it and all appeared to be well.i pulled into a service station for some fuel and noticed a horrible burning smell,i opened the bonnet to see that the washer bottle had fallen off onto the exhaust and was burning away/melting.i dragged it out and stamped it out, I thought idiot I obviousiy had not fitted it properly so I ordered a new one.when it arrived I fitted it and to my surprise when filled with water it fell off and was a terrible fit,i returned it for an exchange and the new replacement is identical,a terrible fit.i have had to secure it with a stainless cv boot strap,so beware if you buy one of these check when it is full that it is secure.i will be speaking to supplier tomorrow

Does anyone know how to clean the old bottle?(not putting it into words in case SWMBO finds out how I got it so clean!)

Hi,I used sterilizing fluid+dishwasher, then I found out it leaked from the bit where it fits onto the bracket, so cut down a milk carton(plastic bottle)and fitted that inside the original bottle whilst a new one came,as It was MOT time and so needed some water in it.New bottle came,, from a well known supplier,, and seems to be secure enough.Mind you I put some sheathing on the metal slider ,where it clamps the bottle.
Regards
Ken.
