    SOC Membership and agreed valuation

Right. My trial period will be over anytime soon. How time flys.
With the SOC, how does the insurance and agreed valuation work?
At the moment I have insurance, agreed valuation and break down cover all through Lancaster. The agreed valuation was done by photos and post. I think it was slightly undervalued.
With the SOC, can you arrange agreed valuation by actual physical inspection. Also can breakdown recovery as well as the car insurance all be arranged through a single payment as an all inclusive policy?

If you go to the SOC website home page and log in to the Members Area, you will find the details under Members Area, Insurance and Valuations.

I'm not sure that Mark can see the members area, as a trial member, Dave

But Mark, European breakdown recovery is (or can be) included in the club insurance cover and all paid together - that's what I do.

As for agreed valuation, I believe it is all done by photos, but I haven't had mine done yet so not entirely sure on that one.

Hope to see you as a full member soon

      Cheers

      Julian

Ps Dave, I don't reckon you're grumpy really

          Thanks very much.
Is the Insurance through the SOC and breakdown recovery good and reliable? ie not fraught with problems if have to make a claim? I have looked at reviews of classic car insurers and some of the stories seem horrendous (not got full facts obviously)

I claimed from the club approved insurer a few years ago, only issue I had was making them understand that the damage occured in my garage and that I couldnt tell them what the road conditions were like as I was also in the garage at the time of the accident. They obviously had a set list of questions that didnt cover the damage happening inside a garage. Car was also repaired at workshop of my choice.

Mark - please forget about the insurance and other stuff the SOC can bring you, being a supporter and part of this forum is reason enough. The advice that you can both get and bring is invaluable and helps keep these lovely, lovely cars going.

I know what you are saying. But I also want insurance, breakdown recovery and a fair agreed valuation. All that can be utterly relied upon. No point in paying out for cover that may not honour policies when called upon. Thanks.

I use the club insurers RHS and have twice used the breakdown recovery for my Stag with no issues at all. The insurers were also very fair when I had an accident and the costs of repair were far higher than the value of the car at the time. ( I didn't then have an agreed valuation - I do now!). I paid the extra costs myself while they paid up to market value to get it repaired. I also had my Spitfire on the same policy and used their European breakdown service on the Spitfire which was also very good. There are of course other classic car insurers who may be cheaper but I can't vouch for those.
