    Brake lines

Been fitting new brake lines on my brothers car today, went to bleed them, think ive done it right ,no air in the system, but the passengers rear wheel still turns when the brake peddle is on,i cant see any leaks any where, cant get the screws undone on the rear drum to look at the wheel cyilinder

if you pull the hand brake up the wheel locks,if brake fluid comes out of the bleed nipple when bleeding the system that rules out the flexible hose being faulty, am i correct in thinking that ?

I would take the wheel and drum off, peel back the rubber covers on the brake cylinder and check for leaks. It could also be seized?

No it doesn't I am afraid. There is an inner layer that can collapse and even split and in some circumstances act like a one way valve. Its not very likely and there are probably other possible causes but don't rule out the hoses is all I can say.

If all else fails just drill them out, they're not critically important.

Have you tried using an impact driver to get the screws out?

The stainless braid is just an outer sheath for the rubber hose that is underneath. It has to flex remember.

Do you know how old the hoses are? If fitted recently they should be fine.

think the hoses are about 4- 5 years old

                      thanks dave

The drum won't move when the wheel is on.

Pretty unlikely they have deteriorated in just a few years. Mine were more like 30 years old when they collapsed internally.

It is possible to tap the screws around with a small punch or even smaller chisel to get them started, take care when using the hammer

I would try and drill the countersunk head off then hopefully there's enough stub left once the drum is removed to get some mole grips in it. I've found that it is the screw head that get's chewed up rather than the screws seizing in.
