Yes they will be going back tomorrow and ,although I know I will get a refund I also know that the quality of the parts will not improve unfortunately

Some hood catches are made with clinch nuts, and the clinch just comes apart.

If it helps - I got my brake light switch from Dingocroft in Downley (High Wycombe).
They are Landrover specialists - but seeming the Stag shares it's brake light switch with the Landy.
Mine was fitted several years ago - and still going strong.
          Damn - I do wish I hadn't written that...................

That's what happened to this one Chris ,as I slammed the back of the hood down the clinch nut obviously gave way ,I didn't realize that had happened and just thought it hadn't engaged with the catch so I slammed again this time the shaft was out of line due to the nut giving way and so it ripped a peace out off the covering on the tonneau cover and then snapped in two .Not a happy man at the moment

Would it be a good idea to start listing all the alternative spare parts we find out about in a dedicated separate thread?

                Cheers,

The old ones do aswell. Im on the third one since I put my car on the road in April. Just needs a tack weld to hold the nut in place or....2 broke the nut off and then I made a plate that is thick enough to tap and fit a lock nut behind.

BMW 3 series for the brake light switch, cheap as chips off ebay and made of real metal!

One of the suppliers does a brass one but this is similar just over a fiver and with free delivery

                        Hi
Adding to the list, on taking off blue coloured dizzy cap I found the carbon rod lying in the dist leaving the spring to make the electrical contact . Done about 2500 miles. No wonder engine felt rough. Ordered a black one.
