Now that the DVLA in their infinite wisdom have decided to abolish tax discs from October of this year, you can have your very own made. It can show the date the car was first registered, with a stamp on it showing where, or when or what ever uou want it to say. The date is up to you, as is the year.
I got one showing the date my Stag was first registered, and stamped Leeds where it originated.
You can get these off ebay for £8:00 p & p free. Just put the item number 131275343174 in the search box.

Surely this is wrong,
you should put the date either 6 months or 12 months after it was registered otherwise you would have bought the tax before the car was built?

correct terry, ive had a 1970 tax disc showing on my Cortina for the last 20 years and never had a problem with it, will have to get one for the Stag now

Nice, I was only thinking about this at breakfast this morning and whether it'd still be a bizarre offence to display an out of date tax disk ! Somewhere I've got a load of our tax disks going back to the early 1980s

Quite right. Mine is issued on the date the car was first registered in Leeds, so it would have the original date on it, (July 1977) and an expires date one year later July 1978.
But you could have one made for SWIMBO's date of birth, well maybe not. You can have it for any date you want.

I find it ironic to the point if incredulity that anyone would want to pay for a " fake" tax disc when a real one isn't required!
Still it's harmless"fun", knock yourselves out!
