The other day she wouldn't start and I am pretty sure it was a pump issue. I then put the battery on a smart charger for a few days. Today, it started first time and I suspect that a fully charged battery might have helped to shove the fuel through.
I ask because (and I do realise that PI engines have much higher pressure pumps) putting a relay on the Bosch pump of my TR literally transformed the car. Fuel consumption was actually greatly improved by the fact that more was getting through (because I wasn't pressing the loud pedal as hard?)
My Stag's consumption is epic (17mpg) and it feels as though there is more potential power there when under load (sort of strangled) but seems to be fine with good throttle response on the drive. It seems that fuel pumps are a known issue and the thought occurs that with 40 year old wiring maybe it's down to inadequate power supply?
