    Indicator Lights

    On my rear lights the left and right hand indicators are very dim, I have checked the bulbs on a battery and when connected they are very bright. I then put them back into the light and put a wire from the battery earth to the earth on the bulb holder but no difference any help would be grateful, the side, brake and reverse lights are all OK cheers. Will

    Have you chcked the voltage getting to the bulbs? Sounds like a high resistance on the supply side of the flasher unit, duff switch maybee???

      Ps.
      Could be a high resistance in the terminal block for the rear loom.

        what is the chrome like on the reflector part of the light-these tend to deteriorate over time,
        what are they like with the bulb holders removed from the light unit-any brighter just a thought

          Hi Dave and Rob thanks for your advise could be high resistance, I'm booking it into the auto electrician to try to sort it, Rob no its not the chrome it is definitely the power to the bulbs thanks, Will

            Be interested to know what it is Will--electrics are the worst type of gremlins.

              If you have a MK1 then it could be a problem with the night dimming relay being stuck.

                Or early Mk2. Mine had one when I got it.

                  Likewise. One of the first things I did when I got this Stag was to rip it out, as I had done with my Mk1.

                    It could be as simple as a bit of corrosion in the connectors. I would replace the bullet sockets, that is cheap, then clean the bullet plugs on the wiring with a dremel brush. Similar on the multi connectors except since you cant replace the sockets easily, clean then with some wire wool wrapped round a dremel drill bit or something similar.

                    Lamp sockets are notoriously poor in the earthing; new ones can be even worse than old ones so I clean the old ones and solder them up. All my lights are really bright after that treatment.

                      Well I have now sorted the problem took it to my auto electrician and he has by passed the night relay and fitted a new digital flasher unit and all now working properly on cost £10.00 result. Will
