    Tuning issue

I changed my needles and jets today.
I can get the co emissions to 3.5 at idle, the problem I have is as soon as I refit the piston dampers the co goes up to 6. I have engine oil in the carbs, Would this cause the co to rise?

    Cheers all

When you say "as soon as I refit" do you mean fit them and then start the car and rev it? I am wondering if your damper rods have a slight bend in them that's not letting the piston fall properly. A good test is to lift the piston through the carb mouth and then let it go (with the dampers in) you should get a clunk as the piston hits the bridge of the venturi, if you don't it's sticking. try it with dampers in and out and you should be able to tell if its a damper problem.

Thanks for reply, I mean when the damper rods are refitted, without altering anything else, the Co at idle increases from 3.5 to 6. I'll check out your suggestion tomorrow.
