Can anyone tell me if i can remove the engine sump without touching anything else?. Looked at it and it looks like you have to raise the engine. I have drained the engine and am going to have it rebuilt, but thought i would like to examine the oil for signs of metal, or anything else that may be in there!!. jonathon

You have to drop the front crossmember. Doesn't take long (4 hours to remove and replace) and it's described in the Repair Operations Manual. I did mine recently. It can also be removed without touching the crossmember if you drop the gearbox.
