    Tanks.

    Who makes bespoke fuel tanks?

The original Stag tank is in good nick, however a larger, centrally mounted ally/stainless tank floor mounted with straps over is what I want. The Stag tank arrangement seems complex, is it ok to just have a filler hole, breather and 'internally mounted pump' holes?

Can any of you fine engineers help?

    Thanks, Andrew.

why? is the question that pops into my mind?

where is your spare wheel going to go?

have you thought of a plastic tank from say a Range Rover Classic? They are oblong, have an integral pump in them already and a filler on the right side for your car.

I am sure that someone will pop along in a second or two saying that the Triumph tank is rubbish and should be replaced etc

Dont forget the fuel sender, and I would add a fuel return too. But why risk a custom or non-standard tank?

The balance of the car about its longitudinal axis is not good to start with (battery=RHS, driver=RHS, tank=RHS) so unless you are going to have a major rethink about rebalancing the entire car I would not think there is much to gain from centralising the tank alone.

Why... Well, I would like a longer range tank, be able to almost always be able to fill with non bio ethanol fuel, a full rhs tank and me in the drivers side WILL have the car listing and I have herd tell of a foam that tanks can be filled with to help with safety( from a back end shunt). Am I being over cautious? Tank sender, hmmm, I forgot that one...

Thanks for the replies, any other thoughts please?

            Andrew.

Ok, my reasons may be a bit flimsy, but I would like to explore other avenues before submitting to putting the original back in! The cost alone may very well help me decide....

Bespoke fuel tank makers then, any recommendations?

                Andrew.

Got mine from ally fab, really well made ally tank, correct shape for stag but SLIGHTLY bigger. He also makes custom tanks so probably well worth a try. If you want to come over and have a look at my tank your more than welcome, just let me know.

As James said AllyFab make them.
They are the guys who make them for EJ Ward, and obviously cheaper when going direct.

Good info. I have had a look at their websites, both look good products, I will get quotes from them, probably have to send a drawing to get a quote.

James I would love to see the tank you have.

                        Thanks Andrew.

Hi, I recently posted some photos of my new tank, they should give you a good idea of size etc.

that tanks looks like the ones wards sell, apart from where the fuel senor sits, unless they have changed the design now

Bryn at Allyfab said he made the tanks for Wards - going direct is a much cheaper option it would seem. As my tank was only recently made and everything fits as it should, perhaps the picture of the Ward's tank was a mark 1 version!
