    Drag strut sheared

I was getting a "clunking" noise from the front off side. Got my local McConechy's to check it and discovered a broken driver's side drag strut. They managed to weld it as a temporary repair. I've phoned Robsport but they're out of stock (new stock due at the end of the month). Does anyone have a spare available by any chance in the mean time?

A photo of the repaired drag strut below:

That doesn't look great Graham. I have had a look and its one of the bits I don't have hanging around - Sam (staginhiding might!!). If nobody else has one hanging around and you are really desperate I have a car up on axle stands at the mo and can look at taking a strut off if you really need one before you can get one.

Looks like they are handed, which side is it you need?

Graham, Peter at LD Parts seems to have both sides in stock http://www.ldparts.co.uk/shop/shop.p...16c326f44a344e

Unfortunately LD Parts are also out of stock

It's the Right Hand side (driver's side) I need if anyone has one available?

Found a pair on Ebay. So if anyone needs a Left Hand side drag strut I have one spare!

I wanted to fit urethane bushes in my drag struts but read it's not a good idea, has anybody done this? only reason being someone fitted bushes back to front and ruined them so I have to do them again correctly..

                  Mark,

I've not had any problems with poly bushes in this location on either Stag I've owned.

I've got poly bushes in my Stag, 2.5PI and 2000 with no adverse effects.

That break is fairly common with cars that have a front ARB (like the Stag and some saloons). A good fix is to strengthen the drag strut at the outer ends by welding on extra plates top and bottom. I've done this on the Stag and the 2 saloons. You do need a longer bolt though! CW recommends a big 6 main bearing cap bolt!

                    Cheers,
                    Mike.
