Very lucky escape

Good evening all, thought I would post these pictures of my fuel hose, I was lucky enough to have the bonnet up when petrol started spraying everywhere,
the small hose was where the metal pipe ends low in the engine bay and looks like it could be the original, the larger one is between plastic pipe and filter and looked ok from the top, for those of you like myself, fairly new or inexperienced I would suggest you have a look, we know the possible consequences.

Glad you found that when you did, I shudder to think of all your efforts going up in smoke.

Wilf, very lucky indeed, didn't now there was a join there, all the other hoses both to the carbs and in the boot are fairly new with shiny new jubilee clips, was just checking over before taking to enginuity on Tuesday, might not have got there.

I don't think the quite corrosive bio ethanol in modern fuel does much to help our older cars. I have not got as far as fuel pipes in my resto. but I will be looking to fit as much metal pipe as possible in the fuel line.

I had that pipe fail some years ago. Been for the MOT and where the tester had been pulling the pipes about, I left a trail of petrol all the way home,--Lucky.

I nearly set my car and garage on fire after a couple of weeks of ownership , non braided hose near fuel filter literally split into 3 pieces and fuel spraying out down manifold with engine running and garage floor full of fuel!!
