    Changing the steering/ignition lock barrel

I understand from older posts that steering lock assemblies are no longer available. My ignition key is very loose in the barrel and I'd like to change the barrel before it breaks. Is it possible to use one of the door barrels that are still being sold and replace the steering lock barrel? I am not sure if I dreamt it, but I have a feeling someone explained how they did this, but I can't find it on the forum.

    Appreciate your help.

Just a thought that someone may have tried.

Does/Is the 2500TC steering lock fit or is similar?

I am trying to replace my ignition lock at the moment, but getting the roll pin out is proving difficult.

much easier to take the ignition lock to a lock smith, and let them do it

I've still got this feeling that someone told us how to do this (including getting the pin out), and even attached a diagram. Or was it in some old SOC technical reprint that I inherited when I bought my Stag? Let me have a look...

Proper Locksmiths either no longer exist Dave, or none live near me.

No wonder we have no 'proper' locksmiths, you guys have them all.

Thanks for the offer Goldstar, I will prob take you up on that.

Here's a suggestion that Rover 3500 lock barrels will fit the Stag. Anyone tried that recently? To be honest, I haven't checked if Rover barrels are any more available than the Stag ones.
