Leather stuff

I'm having areas of my car leathered (most has been done but some still to do).

One of the areas is the T-bar.

To my horror - I found out that removing the T-bar can cause the car to warp as it is a major load bearing point.

Is this the case?

If it is then can anyone suggest a way of leathering the T-bar without removing it?

It won't warp, not unless you jack it up while the T bar is removed I suppose. You may have to persuade it back in though because the B post may move a little

ive done a T- Bar recently not in leather but in vinyl , the car will move slightly but when refitting, fit the front end in first leave the bolts loose ,then go to the sides if the bolts don't line up jack the car up one side at a time to realign the bolts,when all bolts are in then tighten every thing up, if your fitting the cover your self take your time to stretch the cover

Great information chaps!

The chap that's doing my paint job told me about the warp thing - however he has a generic knowledge of classics so he might have had an issue/ thought it was bad for the t-bar to be taken out.

I feel a bit more confident about it now - plus using the tips sent above.

I can't remember where I read it - but there was a piece that spoke about removing the T-bar to have a full true 'open top'. That must have been as easy to handle as a 2CV with a 30 stone naked woman on the back right seat. Actually - that's not an image I'd like to think about - urgh. foul.... ugly..... disgusting.... ridiculous. I think the woman would be off-putting too. :-)

You can swap those over if you wish.
