I used this system to get a registration number and for a vintage tractor. I did not have a tax book, or a registration number and the little plate with the chassis number was missing. I supplied photographs of various parts of the tractor toThe Friends of Ferguson Heritage, and they gave me a lettercertifying thatthat I had a tractor, model such and such, probably built in 1954. A copy was also sent ,with photographs to the local Motor Tax office. I had to present the tractor there, they verified it was the one referred to in the letter and photos and I got an age related number and free taxation.
It's the route someone would have to take if they finished up with a Stag, no evidence of registration, and missing the chassis plate.
