A new home for my Stag - at last.

Five years ago I took early retirement and said I'd build myself a garage and buy a Stag. Well, I did the latter fairly quickly but only now have I finally got round to giving it a proper home. I looked into all sorts of designs and just because of the layout of our house I had to go through the whole Planning Application process.

I decided to go for a wooden 'log' type design but as it was going to be a workshop as well as a garage I redesigned a double garage into what you see below. However this meant mostly building it as originally designed, as a sort of dry run, and then dismantling it to rebuild it as per the final design. In so doing I did my back in and had to put my feet up for a week.

Anyway, now it's just about finished, I'm well pleased with the result. It's 5.9m x 5.5m and my wife bought me the crowning glory that is mounted over the doors. However this has given me an idea. When she said I ought to have a 'Stag head' over the door, of course I thought of one thing whilst she thought of another.

So, I was just wondering if anybody has got a totally scrap head that they fancy giving to a good home. I would like to blast it then lacquer it and I think I will mount it over the front windows to match the head on the other side of the garage

I agonised over how many power points to install until I thought of the hanging roof power socket which has been a Godsend (definitely highly recommended) and I was very pleased to be able to install an electric hardtop hoist.

Proud of my new baby ? You bet I am

    Cheers

    Julian

Well done Julian - just as organised as I would have expected.

I thought yours was pretty tidy too, last time I saw it Paul.

            Love the new garage Julian.
This pic looks similar to my garage as it is at the moment but I think mine is worse. I can get the Stag (just) in but the rest is occupied by poorly organised Stag, Commer and Hiilman spares which take the form of two Rootes gearboxes a Rootes engine, Stag cylinder heads and hood frame, a Hillman Minx bonnet and boot lid as well as Commer and Hillman Minx front and rear windscreens. Just got plans passed to extend my garage so hopefully it will soon be as tidy as yours Julian.
Ive got to replace the front gaitors on the Stag steering rack but can't actually work on it in the garage so it will probably have to wait till the extension is completed. I could do them on the drive but due to it being on the front of the house every time I work on any of our cars I get a stream of neighbours and dog walkers stopping to talk about the cars so any job takes ages to do.

Looking good. Now you can come down and tidy mine up too. It's a right mess at present........

Absolutely brilliant. I'm so jealous, although I'm looking forward to getting a 10.5 x 7 m Colorbond shed later this year it won't look as cool as yours.
Stag, sunshine and country roads = joy!

Looks really good! I love how organised everything is, I reckon I could find exactly what I needed in that garage straight away, without having to move tons of stuff first.

Good garage, a real credit. Now you want a shed for all the bits ...

                        Thanks Guys,

Dave (M) Couldn't you do it from the front, if you can get the front end high enough, so you wouldn't really need the width ?

Dave (DJT) I don't believe you but you've got good reason as you'll have head bits and equipment all over the place.

Andy, yes, I did have to take fence panels down but I'm pleased to say that it's all fitted in even better than I'd hoped. And yes, it's mega tidy at the moment and I'm going to TRY to keep it that way. I'm an incredibly untidy worker so maybe, just maybe, this will give me the motivation to keep it tidy

                        Bprasil1 - '10.5 x 7 m' - now I'm jealous !

Dave - yep, I'm hoping I'll be able to find everything - it'll certainly make a change. Just don't ask me to post a pic in a year's time

And Valleyforge - you're right. At least I can get in there in the next few days and get some work done on my Stag ready for coming up your way the in about ten days time !

                        Cheers

                        Julian

I/ we built my replacement garage some 14 years ago, long enough for my welding workshop and the Jag, I had to do the full planning route, drew the plans myself, got them passed by the conservation board/Lakeland District Council, built it to blend in with the surrounding area, even fitted shutters to the windows to match the house, it blends in well and looks as if it were built in 1923 along with the house.

The TW4T next door(a bleedin' off commer, who only appears every few weeks) is still feuding with me now, he called the council to investigate if I had built it correctly, then sent a communication via his lawyer stating that if I did not take it down he would instruct a demolition firm to destroy it, then when my lawyers told him he couldn't he then, via his lawyers again tried perusing me for lack of enjoyment of his property and devaluing it, so it goes on...

I wanted a stage one tuned Harley to rev up on a Sunday morning, my wigwam keeper said no, so here I am building a Stag from scratch hoping it has a good grawl...

Ahh! Got that off me chest...enjoy your new garage Julian.

                          Andrew.

Looks brilliant, Julian, well done on getting it finished!

I do like the look of your well organized shelving, I feel the urge go out and buy a bunch of pastic containers as well while I still kind of remember where everything is lying about...
