Two years hard work and now this ................

    Well i have put the inlet manifold back on with new gaskets and started the car and its as bad as ever,will try a block test tomorrow but don't think there is any doubt its the head gasket will probably make a start on it week after next as I am on holiday then .thanks for the help and advise so far ,I think i will be back for more soon

        Ditto - sorry to hear that the gaskets didn't solve it.

        Good luck - plenty of advice or experience about doing heads on here recently though.

          Sorry to hear that John, I had the same problem last month and was ready to pull the head off, received some sound advise from Julian and it turned out to be the Inlet manifold gasket. However before I fired her up I did remove the spark plug from the offending cylinder to prevent it hydro locking.
