FUEL LAMP

Hi guys!

My fuel light coming on intermittently (flashes random) even with half tank!!! do I assume sender unit ?-or is this relevant to voltage reg problems? (74mk2) also is sender unit same for MK 1 and 2- or different? is replacement straight forward? as never swapped same!

They all do that sir.

The fuel gauge needle is well and truly damped, whereas the the light operates from the sender unit float which follows the fuelsloshing about in the tank.

Mine starts flickering when the guage gets to a little under half a tank. The nearer to empty you get, the more often it flickers! Perfectly normal.
