    Steve,
Having recently had my MOT I'm pretty sure the light flash was never checked, although as some garages are more thorough than others so that's no guarantee.

Somebody in the business will no doubt confirm 100% but in the meantime this link provides some useful info on testing requirements, and I couldn't see any reference to the light flash being checked.

thanks Jeremy, im thinking this is also the case that my flash was never tested ,im sure I had a flash with my mk2 but this is an early mk and im unsure as to whether they have that facility I think they would have but getting an mot is the main objective .

Steve, I've taken 4 cars through my local testing garage this year (including my Stag) and they always invite me to sit in the car and do the twiddly bits to save them taking one of their guys off a job. I've never been asked to demonstrate the flash function.

i have never had the full beam flasher tested on any car.... always operation of the high and low beam, but never the flash.

..... i guess there is always a first time, but i reckon you'd be fine

Steve iirc from lemans, you didn't have a main beam position on the light stalk did you?

your right ,but I sussed that this weekend the cowl was the culprit it will not fit properly as the captive nuts in the top half have broken free and this had allowed the cowl assy to move just enough to stop the flasher stalk from achieving the main beam position . that's now fixable but ive still no flash when you pull the stalk forwards.

You shouldn't be pulling your stalk anywhere at your age When the old Micra was tested they just wanted main and dip, mind you someone did mention something about an old flasher don't know what they meant by that
