Alternator Conversion

Hey - new to the forum and looking for a little help. I've owned my 71 Mk I now for 20 or so years and it has been in the garage for the last 10. I decided to free it from darkness and clean it up. Stag.jpg

I'm looking for a guide on swapping out my alternator with a modern one. Built in regulator, high out put etc. I've heard of those that used one from a Saturn and Ford Fiesta. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I bought this:

...and laid some heavy duty cables.
I also relocated it to where the aircon would go

Appreciate it - couple of questions. Would you still use the relay and regulator or is that built into the alternator? Where the instructions they include complete?

hi the later type alternator is the complete package ,you will not require the external controls from the early system. Some people like to leave them in situ to retain the old original look which is easy done or remove completely . I have a very good wiring reference with step by step instruction if I can find it .
