Door Skin replacement

Hi Guys

I`m looking at replacing the drivers side door skin, there seems to be a wide range in the price of the skins in the market which ones are considered to be good quality

The SOCTFL ones are widely thought to be the best fit and the great news is that they are now back in production (see Phil Wardles post(s) about SOCTFL panel production) although I'm not sure how widespread distribution is at the moment. Rimmers and EJ Wards are showing OOS but Robsport isn't showing out of stock

I'm slightly biased being on the SOCTFL team but if you read any posts about door skins I think that is the accepted wisdom.

The SOC Tooling Fund includes door skins in their 'catalogue', their quality is the benchmark for all Stag repro panels and will be available from all the main suppliers.

There was a recent change in manufacturer for SOCTFL panels but it's recently been confirmed they're now available again - http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...re-established.

If you're replacing a door skin anyway, are you aware of these SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) as a safety option to consider ? Perhaps others on here can advise firsthand on the item, as I've not yet needed to use them myself.

In my experience, replacement of door skins is one of the most difficult jobs to get right in respect of alignment. You can usually spot a re-skin easily from a distance. Has anyone had first hand experience, and would they agree?

If the door has rusted this usually occurs at the bottom, and I have found that this can be repaired easily by just replacing a strip along the bottom.

If anyone would like their doors repaired at the factory where SOCTFL's doors skins and door bottom repair panels are made this can be arranged. If you contact me via PM or email to soctfl.co.uk I will put you in touch with the person you need to speak to, and you can negotiate from there. This option has always been available though take-up hasn't been great. I can't give you a cost, this will depend on exactly what work is needed.

yes i think your right reskining a car door is one of the hardest jobs ive had to do
