Knocking noise coming from front V area

Please can you help
I have a knocking noise coming from V area and recorded video to youtube

Can anybody tell me what they think could cause this noise

You could try using a screwdriver to more accurately localising source of the noise.
place the blade end of the screwdriver on part and the handle up to your ear.

The knocking sound doesn't seem consist.
Slightly increase the rev's and listen to whether the sound goes up in sinc with the rev's.

If it's more from the front of the block,,,,,,,, I'm thinking timing chain guide or chain.

But then I havn't heard may Stag motors.

Sounds like the chains to me. I know when I replaced mine if you knocked the timing cover it gave that sort of hollow sound. A bit difficult to explain. Have a look down the oil filler with a torch and see what the chains look like. You can just see the tensioners to see how far they are out.

have you changed the bottom hose?, have had the alternator fan touching the bottom hose clip make's a hell of a row

Id take both belts off and the fan and try again, failing that - cam covers off, then timing cover

Sounds like chains to me as well..

Martin. My money is on the timing chains as well. With the r/h cam cover off, you can see down to the hydraulic tensioners with a torch. If the are extended by more than about half an inch, it is time to get in there and replace everything. I wouldn't drive the car any more if they are as worn as they sound. It isn't worth the risk.
