    Soft Top Hood stays

    Hi all,

I've discoverd that my soft top frame has two bits missing and as a consequence the rear rail moves too far back under therear deck panel and has to be persuaded/tugged/jemmied etc back up above said panel to put the roof back on....
The bitsthat I seem to be short of arepart nos 634113 and 634112 (Rimmers Catalogue). They don't seem to be available anymore and as my frame han't got them I wonder if anyone could a) point me in the right direction and b) send me a photo of where they go and what they look like.

I'm informed that the brackets are necessary to keep the frame together on an axis before it fits into the hoodwell.

Any help on this gratefully appreciated.

    Hi Andy,

    Tony Hart has them:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Triumph-Stag-N...742.m153.l1262

These brackets hold the catches listed by Rimmers as 631680 & 631681

Does any know the part number for the bolts that these catches clip onto. I seem to be missing 1.

I have the same problem with one missing.

I am not sure how easy it would be to change one of these arms with the hood in place. Worried about that big spring twisting everything once the part is removed.

Was wondering if it is possible to drill and weld a bold to replace the broken pin.

          Hi David,

Thanks for the link -I have these catches on my frame but the bits that are missing are the bits that these catches latch on to....

          Cheers

            Andy,

Do these pictures help? The catches engage on stubs attached to th eframe. If these are missing, you will either have to make something or find a better frame.

I seem to recall that the Stag was supplied with only one catch fitted

Mine has got 2 catches, I think I read somewhere that early Stags had just the one.

Thats right, the early Stags had a catch on one side only, and it was different to the later catches. You can see it on the Rimmers site.

Yep - that's the one in the first photo - I can't afford to swap the frame at the moment as the soft top isn't bad enough to swap but the idea of getting something made that would do the job isn't a million miles away from my budget.

Many thanks for your help in this Dave - it's genuinely appreciated.
