New Poll - Fuel Economy

I'm not getting good MPG from my 72 Mk1 (and half) auto - averaging 16mpg. Only got 21mpg on a weekend run.

It might be the journey - I use my Stag as my everyday car in SE London.

So I'm curious what others are getting...

I can get 28 on a run with a holley fitted .most of my driving is short around town trips though which i seem to get about 18 average so i 've stuck it on the poll as an average between the 2 averages (If you see what i mean)

Everyday running in and around Exeter I get 18-20. The best I have had is 31 on a steady 70 mph, 700 mile round-trip from Devon to Teesside last Summer.

I've certainly never made it to 20mpg - I pitch in at around the 16 mark, but then since I've had the car I've only taken it out for relatively shortblasts round the country roads of rural Hampshire as that's the kind of driving it (and I) enjoy the most plus I like to make as much noise as possible whilst doing it - just can't get enough of thatawesome sound

I voted 22-25 which is based on my last tankful,about 260 miles on 12 gallons, mostly main roads, I'm sure its much less at lower speeds and in stop start traffic.

I reckon if tried not too hard I could get less than 15 and it would be worth every penny! just not all the time eh?

I voted 22-25 which is based on a trip to kent and back ( over 500 miles ) mostly at 75-80 apart from the dartford tunnel 0-2 mph quite happy with that bearing in mind that the car was designed to run on 4 star and modern unleaded is about 2 star.

Fuel Consumption? - I have always thought that, for the sake of 'peace of mind', it is best not to even think about it.

My advice is when the little needle goes towards the red, go and fill it up preferably on a sunny day with the hood down then, by the time you have got home you will have forgotton the nasty experience of the assault on your credit card.
