    Anyone else an F1 fan?

Of course I should say Grand Prix fan, the term used before Mosely and co neutered the whole thing.

For any of you young guys who thought that lewis is good (which he is) should take a look at this clip. Rene Arnoux (renault) and Giles Villeneuve (ferrari) racing for a runner up spot.

Motor Racing as it should be...

Sorry, but F1 has to the the dullest form of motorsport on the planet. Watching amateur enthusiasts racing at club events is 100x more exciting and a fraction of the cost.

I am, and yesterday's I stayed in & watched the whole race which I don't always do - despite the sun beating down outside and the pool inviting me in for a swim. Usually I spend Sundays sunbathing by the pool, swimming & reading, and then watch the GP highlights later in the evening.
To rob Lewis of his Victory is just criminal, Massa was allowed to get away with a dangerous pit lane exit in the previous GP, and others have been allowed to do what Lewis did without penalty, afterall he did back off & let Raikonen take the lead again before overtaking him once more.
Unfortuneately looks like politics has stuck it's ugly hand in once again, & the powers that be don't want Lewis to be Champion. Bet they are not Triumph Stag fans.

Maybe you have to be a bit of an anorak to love it on the TV? I do! But go and see a grand prix - honestly it is not boring.

Yesterdays decision however was so wrong.

I presume you didn't watch the race on Sunday then?

I too thought that it was dull for many years- there was always one team way ahead of the others and there was very little overtaking:X

Now it is different, the last couple of laps on Sunday were Brilliant

I have to agree, but then of course we all know that nowadays FIA stands for "Ferrari International Assistance". In a dispute, any other team (especially Mclaren) doesn't stand a chance. With the number ofdecisions that have gone against Lewis so far this season. I am surprised he hasn'tquit and taken up motorcycling.

Yes me too, the kid has got talent and ferrari look more desparate each race.

Really hope lewis nails it, it would be fitting for max to get it where he enjoys it!

I didn't, but I guess with a British driver involved you get that all important emotional involvement in the sport which makes a huge difference, witness the recent European Cup. I couldn't give a monkeys who won, but if England had qualified :X I would have been shouting at the TV screen :?.

At the German Grand Prix a few years ago Shumaker spun off. Immediately half the German crowd with their Ferrari flags got up and left! That says it all really.

At Silverstone or Brands when I was young, even when Jim Clarke was thrashing the foreigners, we all used to have a good kip in the F1 and wake up for the saloon car races featuring Mini's vs Ford Galaxies etc, which we considered exciting racing. I am looking forward to the Revival on the 20th for an exciting action replay (weather permitting). Last year Stirling was there in a Lotus Cortina, and when Tiff Needel's BMW expired in a cloud of smoke having just been passed by 3 Minis on the inside at Woodcote, the crowd leapt to itsfeet punching the air

                  F1..... zzzzzzzz

He (Lewis)does seem to be a bit unpopular with the F1 rule makers. I wonder what this lot would have made of Schumacher and some of the stunts he pulled to win world championships.

It is a real shame that the "sport" has been sanitized with engine development freezes and technical developments that have to be vetted by the supposedly impartial FIA.

So if a team come up with a "wizard wheeze" they cant run it untill all and sundry know about it or have it banned by teams (ferrari) if it looks like a winner.

Give me the old days with the likes of colin chapman (lotus) inovating and pulling some strokes, but technological advancements were the result.

Until then yes F1 is in danger of.........ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Diabolical decision, Mclaren kept to the rules and gave the place back and then took Kimi R again. All the decisions over the past couple of years with Ferrari and Mclaren have gone in favour of Ferrari. When will they realise that it is a race and not a follow the Ferrari procession. (feel better now)

Never mind the FIA and there little tweaks to the rules - Lewis Hamilton still tops the most important driving league - fastest around the Top Gear track :dude:

I used to work for the Arrows F1 team for 4 years, it was a great place to work. The smaller teams really stick together and do great things on their tiny budgets. I have always been a huge fan of F1. We almost cracked it one year with Damon's (near)win - only 2 laps off before a 12p oil seal failed!!

I must admit though now that i am struggling to keep my faith. I no longer watch the qualifying, and generally sky + the race. I watch Martins pit walk, the start, then fast forward the race to the end or any other interesting bits.

I think the stewards medaling in the result last week put another nail in the coffin for me, it really was the most entertaining (part of) a race for some time.

My fix for the F1 racing is to remove all rules except for some some standard dimensions of the car and safety regulations. And allow an "anything goes" approach to everything with one exception...

Limit the amount of fuel available. Say approx 200 litres. Then everyone can do what they like to make the cars reach the end, regenerative braking, low down-force etc At least the smaller teams can try doing something different to the big teams. Everyone will have to remove down-force to reduce drag - this might even generate some over taking. Different tyre manufactures will come back as well to try different things. Each year the fuel can be reduced as people get better, all of the new engineering breakthroughs can then be transfered to road car technology.

Maybe i'll email bernie@F1.com and see what he has to say!
