    Brake woes

My brake pedal sinks to the floor - if I pump it the brakes work. There's no loss of fluid or leaks - I'm assuming it's the master cylinder seals and have ordered a repair kit. Does anyone have other ideas?

Also, what are the pitfalls in the replacement procedure?

Sounds like a cylinder rebuild job to me.

I rebuilt my master about six months ago.. job itself is refreshingly simple, but bleeding everything right (and especially getting both circuits balanced properly) requires lots of patience... it's a job you can't hurry!

And a job that's not always possible if the bore is badly worn or damaged.... good luck with it!

If the cylinder is shot, a good move would be to add a few quid to the cost of a replacement and get the Monarch BMW servo/cylinder conversion - ace brakes after!
