Just seen an ad in a magazine for a rebuilt Stag engine. Complete with oil pump! 12 months, (or some miles cant remember how many) for .......

£695!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from the Brothers!!!! and Front wing for less than £60!!!! also from the Brothers!!!!

Then I saw the date on the magasine!!!!! TEEHEEE it was from 1987.... before I even lived in the UK ......

just thought Id shed some cheer ... how things used to be... but the price of the cars hasn't changed a lot (£3500 for a Rover Engine converted Stag in reasonable condition)!!! Something is VERY WRONG there!!

But in 1984 I was able to buy a complete new engine in major assemblies for £650 (short engine, 2 head assemblies, 2 pumps, timing chain set and all gaskets), so was £695 cheap for a recon?

My real point was that the same thing now will cost about the same as the car did back then... Something like 4 to 5 times the cost. The cars values have not increased by the same amount
