I've sent an email to Emilia Pearcy asking for more details of the Stag, and inviting her to read the above article whilst I make up my mind. Not used my regular email account, naturally......Originally posted by PJM Stag View PostInteresting that if you put Hellas-shipping.co.uk into google the first page that comes up is this one http://www.autoshippers.co.uk/car_shipping_scam.htm

Dave, excellent! So should I hold off on sending the response below
?
"Hmmm ... you really ought to refine your scam a little. You see, us classic car types are perhaps not as dim as you presume.
It's really rather simple - if the vehicle indeed exists, and is as advertised, then you would have no issue with allowing a pre-deal inspection to take place. How do I explain this to you?
For what it's worth, you're trying to "sell" a car which is legitimately advertised by an actual flesh-and-blood classics dealer. The price is also rather different to your woeful attempt at luring a sucker or two.
So ... it works like this (and NOT as you'd have it):
- You agree to an inspection
- Inspection takes place
- Potential buyer reviews inspection report and says "yes" or "no"
- If yes to step 3, then payment to your '3rd party' takes place and we go to step 5. Else we go to step 7. Of course, why do you even then need the 3rd party? That's a question for another scam, eh?
- Vehicle is shipped as per your claim.
- There is no need for any return shipping or refunds.
- Ah well, better luck next time!
This way, there is also no identity theft opportunity (see? we saw that one!), and all the complex finagling you mention is, well, just not needed!
There you go! Try it that way!
Very kindest and warmest of festive regards,
Erwin

They will be the 3rd, objective party involved in the transaction. This way you will actually pay for the vehicle after you will receive and test it, because Hellas Auto Shipping will hold the funds in an Escrow and release it to me only after you accept and confirm the delivery. You will have 10 days to test , decide and accept the vehicle. If you decide to take it you will have to contact them and confirm that, so they can release the money to me. If you won't like it you will have to ship it back to me within the 10 days and they will refund you including money transfer fees. The shipping back will be done on my own expense, but I am sure this will not be the case. If you decide to buy the vehicle, please include the following information in your next email.

I've mailed "Emilia" ... but I fear I may have hurt his/her feelings somewhat.
