Still OK for tomorrow, how did you get on with that bonnet?
Paul
not sure on brand, not bought it yet yes still on for tomorrow, the bonnet fits great on one side, both hinges line up ok,got my door and boot lid back after sand blasting
The epoxy resin undercoat I used was 2 paint 1 hardener with up to 10 % thinner
I bought really good filters for my silicone moulded mask but in all fairness you should use air feed its awfull stuff , don't use a handkerchief
the epoxy I bought is 4:1 Edd hence my question - Dave it should be on the data sheet or similar as should the mask requirement but as ddd says - not usually nice but I don't think (will check) that my epoxy primer needs an air feed - no isocyanates. Best to check
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't
The Lechler stuff I used last was as Edd says 2:1+10% thinners. But I would always ask for the technical datasheet from the supplier as they do vary between makes.
Also make sure you get the right primer - some of the easy sand stuff can't be left more than 24 hours before the top coat is applied as it can absorb moisture which then leads to microblistering appearing through the top coat at a later date. That is what I was told by my paint supplier.
I would strongly advise getting an airfed mask, it is so much nicer to have fresh air blowing in your face than suffocating in a filter mask and dribbling everywhere.

Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!
I'm currently spraying mine with 2K, using 2:1 paint:hardener with up to 10% thinners. Generally I'm finding that 500ml paint, 250ml hardener and 10% thinners is enough to put 1 reasonable coat on the car. The last coat of base paint will have about 15% thinners in the mix. Entire respray of bare shell has taken 2L epoxy primer, 4L standard primer, 3L stonechip, 5L base coat and 3L clear coat.
I'm using an HVLP spray gun set at 30 psi
Just a note for anyone buying an air fed mask - it is a really wise thing to do, but not if fed from a compressor in the same room as where the painting is taking place. The compressor should have a plentiful supply of clean, fresh air, otherwise you'll be breathing the paint you are trying to avoid due to recirculation.

Steve
