Steering adjust bolt removal problems

Hi everyone

I'm having problems removing the steering adjuster bolt. Can anyone advise me how to remove it? It says in the manual that it just pulls out but on my MkI it is loose but won't pull out.

There is a little 'safety' pin stopping it coming out. I cant remember exactly where it is though.

Hi, I tried to remove mine when freeing off the heater valve and had the same problem, even tried a little " persuader " but to no avail, so I would like to know the secret.

Someone must have solve this issue, lets hope they let us know
