Windesa or Breeze Breaker wind deflector?

    Any recommendations?

'Windesa' or 'Breeze Breaker' wind deflector?

Similar price, similar appearance, one British? one German.

Isn't there some consensus here that Bosscreen's are:
Liable to fracture? Have to be dismantled in order to raise the hood? Has a reflection issue? Has a buffeting issue? Is more expensive?
I do like Bosscreen's rear seat 'tonneau' which gives a more 'secure' stowage compartment, as far as prying eyes are concerned anyway.

Otherwise, I'd still like to know if there's any difference between the 'Windesa' or 'Breeze Breaker' wind deflectors and what experience any of you have of them?

        Hi John,

I came across this one on Ebay France, and saved it for posterity. I have no idea how it stacks up quality wise, but does seem to be a good price.

I have a Breeze Breaker and find it extremly good. The tonneau over the back seats stops prying eyes and fits well, it's not dissimilar to the Bossscreen one. . The whole thing looks great on the car, easy to fit, and can stay in place if you need to put the soft top up.
Even the dog likes it, he will often crawl under the tonneau for forty winks !

I have a Bosscreen and have no problems with reflections or buffetting. It can stay in place when you raise the hood. It came with the car and the previous owner said he had it for several years. It seems to be well made and I cannot see that other than hitting it with a sledge hammer that the screen will break

a BosScreen can be left in place when you raise the hood - however you do need to move the securing levers about 1/4 inch to stop the hood-frame catching - if you don't it can cause a crack in the bottom corner.

I preferred the look of the BosScreen & didn't have buffeting issues but, as with most things, it mostly comes down to personal taste.

I've got both BosScreen and the mesh type (bought as a Forum bulk buy a few years ago) and change them over as I wish. Both can be left in place when raising the hood, but reaching beneath the rear hoop to zip/unzip the rear window can be awkward.

The BosScreen does give more reflections on a sunny day and can dazzle a bit at night. It also seems to cause more buffeting than the mesh screen. The mesh screen comes with a mesh tonneau which means that anything on the rear seat is visible to outsiders. The main advantage of the mesh screen is that it can be removed and rolled up quite small and will fit in the boot easily in the event that you need to remove it to carry rear seat passengers, whereas the BosScreen is bulkier.

I have an Audi A4 mesh one,it's pretty good at reducing the buffeting and folds up nice into a bag to go in the boot.
The only thing I had to do, was to put two pieces of Velcro onto it to fasten around the 'T' bar and two bungee cords to hold the back piece down.
                  Ken.

What did you do about the rear (horizontal) part not really being the right shape for the rear seat area then Ken ?

                    Cheers

Julian I too have the Audi one, and secure it exactly the same as Ken which means the slight difference of shape compared to the car isn't an issue and stays secure.

At £50 it was well suited to the value of the MM, but I would be tempted by another solution with a more expensive car.

Re buffeting are you talking windows up or down? If you are using any screen then to me its windows up and then defo no buffeting with the BosScreen at 70mph. The BosScreen easily fits in the boot should you have rear seat passengers?

Windows up. And no it doesn't if you've got golf clubs in there.......

Not a regular golfer but have set of clubs in Titleist bag that would easily fit in boot with properly stowed BosScreen not a golf trolley agreed but...!

Actually the times I would carry a set of clubs are as equally remote to my having to remove the BosScreen!

Can't argue with that, other than the fact that my clubs and trolley are frequently in the boot as they will be today but the hard top is fitted now for the winter.

The OP asked for info on the two types, both of which I have had for many years and have a lot of experience of.

He also mentioned the fact that the BosScreen can break, which it can if the fastening handles aren't aligned properly when the hood is raised. Many have succumbed to this which, IMO, is a design fault. I made my own version a long time ago when I had my old Mk1 Stag (photos on my profile) and designed the fixing handles so that they were parallel to the screen and facing inboard when they were fastened. This meant that they could not get trapped by the hood and crack the screen. This screen was sold to another member (who still uses it) when I bought my current Stag which came with a genuine BosScreen.
