The open side of the 'V' should be on the windscreen side ie the 'V' points forwards.
When I fitted mine I managed to find some very small plastic barbed clips (from Bresco or Woolies IIRC) and drilled small holes in the rubber for them - a little bit like the original except that the head of the clips isn't buried in the rubber. However the head is rrasonably well hidden by the other side of the rubber 'V'. It's not perfect but I'm quite happy with it.
Don't use Evo sticI'm a big fan usually but it has changed my green paint to blue where I've used it !!
As for leaving it off, over time you get a surprising amount of oil laden fumes coming out and it will make the screen oily.
Cheers

The rubber that sits between the bonnet and the air intake for the car interior.

Mine didn't come with one, and I won't be fitting it either. A reasonable amount of hot air comes out of the resulting gap when the fan is running and you are stuck in traffic, which has to be beneficial. It's easy to check by leaving the engine running and putting a hand over the gap - it works!
Given the lack of upper underbonnet (I hope that makes sense!) ventilation (no gills or bonnet louves on the Stag) it's worth taking every chance available to move some of that heat out, just IMHO. I've gone a bit further. I might describe that someday.

Well worth fitting for reasons mentioned as well as supporting the trailing edge of the bonnet. It will make NO DIFFERENCE to under bonnet temperatures. If it did then I'm sure Triumph would have deleted it, but they kept it in production until the very last.
Available from the usual suppliers.Dave

My bonnet seal was removed in the late '80s on just the theory that it let a bit more heat out. Actually it just rusted areas away where the wheel arch meets the bulk head presumably from water running down and getting behind the bulkhead sound deadening pad. Might be ok on a summer only, otherwise garaged car, but mine is getting a new seal regardless.
