Name That Top Hose! Rover V8 Top-hose ID Required

My '74 Stag has a Rover 3.5 V8 fitted; whilst the conversion has been done pretty well and sympathetically I've got the usual problem...... I've no idea what radiator hoses have been used and the top one has just split! Thankfully, the bottom hose seems brand new so shouldn't need replacing.

I've attached a photo. Any ideas of what car it is originally from?

    Many thanks,

    Perry

    Hi Perry
I had the same problem with my rover stag,in the end I got flexible ones from carbuildersolutions.com and fitted them at the start of year and the car run perfectly all summer. They do all different lengths with lots of different diameters I can't recommend them enough.

    All the best Steve

I guess another alternative could be is to replace it with silicone. I have used Ash mrsilicone on Ebay. Cheers Graham

Hi Perry, sorry I can't help you. I have a Rover V8 but it would appear to be from a MGB with the same inlet manifold arrangement as this one http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/MG...r-Article1.htm
From the picture it looks af if you have a header tank or radiator extension. My hose goes direct from the engine to the radiator.

That's how it should be surely? The tank must be an impediment to flow.

Guys, many thanks. I did want to try and keep it all original (well, as original as the person who did the conversion!) but I've gone for the back-up plan and entered the brave-new world of flex wire silicone hoses. Thankfully in black rather than boy-racer blue or red!

Staggard thanks for the tip, ASH silicone hoses on Ebay seemed very reasonable by the metre..... I guess it gives me an excuse to tidy up the rest of the engine bay, although I can't be doing with scrapping-off all the underbody sealant that a previous owner has thoughtfully painted it in!

Yep, header-tank, brand new 4-row radiator and kenlow fan; the previous owner either had an overheating issue or money to burn! I haven't really had much of a chance to tinker too much, although the cooling seemed excellent until the tatty old hose split.

Chris, thanks for the handle, it arrived yesterday!
